This post will cover the progress of the sub team of the FRBC project and them finding ways to help firefighters get their boots cleaned more easily.
The Situation
A sub team of the FRBC project is the medical team and they are tasked with making ways to make it easy for firefighters to clean off bacteria off of their boots. The team members are made up of Anthony Tovar, Faris Antar, Jesus Andrade and they began their project by talking with the Garland fire department and asking them how they clean their boots, after getting the information they set off to work!
Experiments
First, they went outside and got the boots dirty so they can use this cleaning detergent called "CITROSQUEEZE " it is the #1 leading brand for helping clean off fire fighter boots. They proceeded to clean the boots with CITROSQUEEZE, swabbed it before & after cleaning, put it in a petri dish and put it inside a incubator. The photo below shows off the results. The left dish with CITROSQUEEZE is deionized water and killed more bacteria than the right that is just regular pure water, so it shows that CITROSQUEEZE really does kill bacteria.
What They Learned
In the end CITROSQUEEZE is a good cleaner for deep stains and filth. They learned what bacteria can come from firefighting boots and what kind of bacteria can grow on petri dishes and how dangerous they could be to Firemen. As of right now that's all the progress they have made, but once something new comes up I will update you all.
